Uniforms of the armed forces have always held a place of pride and elicits fascination and awe from the public at large. For a service person, it is an inalienable part of his identity or may be the raison d’etre of his existence. It is a living saga of a soldier’s unwavering commitment, selfless sacrifice and unilateral patriotism. However, like everything else in life, have a finite life which shall be discarded someday.
We are a start-up, formed by retired army officers. We have taken the initiative to find a solution to a vexed issue of many decades in the Defence Forces, while keeping in mind the pressing needs of the society like job creation, sustainable development and a helping hand to the underprivileged.
When I retired from the Army, suddenly I realised, I had so many types of uniforms which I could not use now and ,thus, had to dispose .This got me thinking about this vexed issue and I realised that it has been consistent for all my 36 year in service.
My mind started working to find an answer to this important and relevant question because I realised none of our men in uniform, from the Army, Airforce or Navy, could give me an answer about how to dispose these uniforms, once not in use, with all due respect.
It was then that I started working on the idea of creating an NGO which collects these uniforms, turns them into useful products and delivers it to the needy.
Thus SEWAJ Neesim Foundation was born for a noble cause.
